Combined Higher Secondary level exam is conducted by staff selection commission. This exam is conducted to recruit candidates for the post of Junior Secretariat Assistant, Portal Assistant, Lower Divisional Clerk, Data Entry Operator, and Sorting Assistant.
The exam is held at all India level, and the selected candidate can be posted anywhere in the country. The SSC CHSL exam is conducted in three stages, first stage is computer based online exam, second stage is descriptive exam and the last stage is typing test or skill test depending on the post you have applied for. Candidates will be scrutinized at every stage, and only few candidates out of the first stage will be able to make it to final round.
SSC CHSL 2019 Syllabus
First Tier: Computer-based online objective test
- : This section will include questions from both verbal and non-verbal segment. Analogy, Symbolic operations, Number Analogy, Figural Analogy, Symbolic Analogy, Space orientation etc, will be part of this section.
- : In this section, topics to be included will be Number system, statistical charts, Algebra, Mensuration, geometry, number systems, andmiscellaneousquantitative problems.
- : Error spotting, Synonyms, Antonyms, Homonyms, Detectingmisspelled words, Idioms, phrases, fill in the blanks are few common topics to be covered in this section.
- : This section is specially designed to check the candidates knowledge on current affairs, and to judge his awareness about his surroundings, environment, and society.
Scheme of SSC CHSL examination:
Second Tier: Descriptive
This paper will be second stage of the selection procedure It will be descriptive in nature, and candidates will be given one hour to complete the paper. The exam will be for 100 marks and will be totally based on the writing skills of the candidate. Following will be the content of this paper:
Candidates must secure 33% of marks to qualify the same. Here also candidates may opt for either Hindi or English to write the paper. Candidates writing part paper in Hindi and part paper in English will not be evaluated, they must opt for the one language.
The marks scored in both Tier 1 and Tier 2 will be considered to make a merit list of candidates to qualify to appear in final tier of selection procedure.
Third Tier: Skill Test/Typing Test
It will be skill based test as per the requirement of the job you have applied for. Generally, typing test is being conducted to evaluate the typing speed of the candidate which is must in most of the government jobs. For eg., date entry operators must have speed of about 8000 words per hour. The candidate will be adjudged on the basis of correct entries they have made in one hour from given paragraph and not 8000 words alone.

Candidates who are eligible to sit for SSC CHSL examination can fill online application form, and can also deposit fees through online mode itself. However, fees can also be deposited through SBI in Challan in any of the SBI branch.
